The work combines the image of a crocodile with a couture look by Schiaparelli under Daniel Roseberry, treating the animal not as a costume device but as a fashion subject in its own right.
Animals often appear in AKSI’s work as visual characters — expressive, distinctive and, in her view, frequently more compelling than people.
Crocoparelli began as a purely visual experiment: an attempt to place couture, animal form and character inside the same image. It also became the starting point for a broader idea — a series of animals dressed through the language of fashion.
